BLACKWOOD POST OFFICE LOCATION CONFIRMED...
I received this email from Australia Posts Communications Adviser today ...
In relation to change of premises and new licensee taking over the Blackwood Post Office:
The Blackwood General Store will cease operating as a licensed post office on Thursday 31 July 2008. From Friday 1 August the Blackwood Licensed Post Office will be operated from a room at the rear of the Blackwood Hotel opposite the General Store. Access will be via the side door. The post office room is to the left immediately inside the door, so customers will not have to enter the main bar, or any other part of the hotel to get access to postal services.
All existing services will be available at the new location including post office boxes and over-the-counter mail collection. The hours of business will be 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 9am until 12 noon on Saturday.
We are very pleased that we’ve been able to find suitable licensees and premises to ensure that the Blackwood community will be able to continue to enjoy access to post office services locally.

FREE TAX HELP FOR RESIDENTS ACROSS THE BALLARAT ELECTORATE
With the start of the 2008-09 financial year comes the time to fill out our tax returns.
Catherine King MP, Federal Member for Ballarat, has arranged for free tax assistance to those earning less than $35,000 per annum and increases by $2,500 for every dependent child. This service is available until the end of October.

Having delivered the second print of the first issue of Blackwood News to local businesses over the last couple of days, I have just completed the June/July issue with article photos in colour.

Just for fun, see if you can pick the 5 differences between the first & second print runs ... I'll give you some hints ...
- a corrected spelling mistake
- an additional line in an advert
- not exactly a name change
- something for archival purposes
- the fifth is an image correction

By the 4th June there were few issues of June/July Blackwood News left in local businesses. The response to the first issue has been overwhelmingly positive so a second print run has been ordered.
